Pros

EVgo has a lot of things going for it. These are some of the most intelligent people I’ve ever worked with. People genuinely care about their work, the industry and the overall success of the company. The culture has a “relaxed as long as you get your job done” type vibe. This is the first place that I’ve worked at that doesn’t have petty gossip or crazy egos at the top. The company just moved into beautiful offices with amazing views. There are often happy hours, special events and catered lunches that make bonding with your co-workers enjoyable. Overall, it seems like management actually cares and wants to make EVgo a great place to work, which is refreshing.

Cons

The “EVgo way” is to consistently struggle to find clear answers about people’s roles, responsibilities and procedures. If you are a Director level or below, you essentially have no authority to make any decisions. If you are a VP or above, you have authority to make decisions, but it seems like everyone is afraid to do so. Communication from the top down is terrible. There are meetings, meetings and more meetings...many of which are not necessary and take several hours out of the day. Instead of being a disruptive leader, we spend a lot of effort fearing what our competitors are doing. Each department has their own system and way of getting things done (many individuals use different programs, places to save work, formats, etc) which leads to lots of internal confusion and time wasted trying to track down answers. Growth potential is slim. I’ve only witnessed one promotion in the entire time I’ve been here but dozens of others have either quit or have been let go in the same amount of time. My job, and many of my colleagues jobs, have changed significantly over the years as the company has grown but titles (and pay) have remained the same.

Pros

* Every tenth employee is a tuned-in, critical thinker, technically and/or business savvy types * Great long term growth potential in industry (but see below) * A lot of low hanging fruit for high quality hires * Flexible and unlimited PTO * Health insurance pretty good * Phone and internet stipend is nice perk Overall nice to work for a company that supports vehicle electrification when 27% of US CO2 emissions are from vehicle transportation

Cons

* Everyone in C-suite is first timer and it shows * Everyone I've met above director level is completely incompetent * Lots of politics, conflicts of interest, and nepotism sprinkled throughout, performance means nothing * Company is over focused on quantity of sites, completely disregards quality. * No integrity, transparency, or accountability anywhere in the org * Company is falling behind the industry because our leadership failures are showing * Budgets are getting slashed across the board * Just laid off 40+ people, from what I heard low severance pay * 401k match got revoked in 2023 * Barring an acquisition or major re-org, we're headed for certain bankruptcy inside of 4 years

Pros

Past CEO was passionate and seemed to care but after they went public she became disconnected from the lower level employees, while the other VPs and C-Suite slowly destroyed the company.

Cons

The CFO and COO do not value people and only profit but they are not capable of delivering on profitability because they aren't great people leaders.
