Toxic Unprofessional Workplace

Pros

Generous paid time off (PTO) policy.

Cons

In my experience as a junior analyst, you will not be given any work to do, and when speaking up about it, you will be treated as a nuisance. The company culture is toxic and unprofessional. Staff members do not listen, they do not have any respect for each other, and interpersonal conflicts are common. Such behavior is enabled by department directors, who are uninterested in taking any responsibility for whatever occurs. The persistent ego problems among senior analysts, which upper-management allows unchecked in the workplace, makes Econometrica an unhappy, dysfunctional place of employment.

Sinking ship.

Pros

benefits, nice office space, lots of free happy hours.

Cons

The CEO and founder is terrifying. He openly uses threats to encourage results. "Your job is on the line" and "if you miss a deadline, don't tell anyone. Just get your stuff and leave." These are actual quotes.

Poor management, No career path

Pros

The only positive was that the office was near the metro station.

Cons

My title changed day 1 from what was in my offer letter; as did my role and responsibilities. Upper management was very patronizing and the CEO is extremely unprofessional, essentially a bully. It's tough to stay at a company that consistently lies to you and limits your career growth by constricting you to grunt work on awful projects so I left after less than 2 months.

Thank you for your feedback! This is not the experience we wanted you to have, and it certainly doesn't sound typical of Econometrica staff. We have a very structured onboarding plan that spans across an employee's first three months, which are a great opportunity to raise any such concerns with your manager.
