Passionate staff, work environment struggles

Pros

The staff is passionate about what they do, and individual departments program great work, especially for departments of their size. Sharing space with classes, preschool, and the arts can bring an great mix of people into the building year-round. Jewish holidays are respected, and work-life balance, outside of upper management, is solid.

Cons

Individual departments are siloed and communication between them can be difficult. Recent changes to department and JCC leadership have left the organization struggling with a lack of trust, communication, and staff morale. Larger departments within the JCC experienced almost total turnover within the span of a year. Upper management does not take concerns seriously, communicates poorly, and creates unsafe and inconsiderate working environments. Pay and benefits are in need of improvement.

Quite Chaotic at the Moment

Pros

Some of the people working here are great.

Cons

They overwork and underpay you. There is a lack of adequate support when it comes to completing projects or getting anything done really. They are reactive instead of proactive. Upper management does not listen to it's workers when potential issues are brought up and then get upset when said issues actually arise.

Pros

Jewish community and Jewish events (Shabbat, Passover, Purim etc)

Cons

-no training at all, you just are stuck in a room with the kids with no idea what's going on -child safety was neglected by both employees and management -2/3rds of coworkers do not follow requirements, leaving the remaining 1/3rd with a higher workload -people are ALWAYS on their phones, sometimes they don't even look up at the kids -Management does nothing to stop poor behaviors from employees. Blames good workers for other's poor behavior ("You take too much charge in the classroom and so they don't have anything to do that's why they're on their phone's so much. You need to take a step back and facilitate a more collaborative environment and maybe they won't be on their phones so much"- quote from management) -Dangerous behaviors from kids aren't addressed and are left to be dealt with by (undertrained) staff members). Parents are often not told of incidents. No consequences for kids throwing chairs, hitting, kicking, screaming etc.
