Pros

- Brilliant team of people and cool offices. - A good product - Not expected to always work long hours and can work from home etc if needed.

Cons

- Don’t look after their staff in terms of no benefits package and multiple people have been pushed out in really nasty ways. This leads to a feeling of insecurity and mistrust for everyone. - No organised company events/culture - individuals organise things - Directors not open to ideas and controlling

Pros

Lots of lovely and talented people. Fundamentally sound product helps everything else tick along.

Cons

The rot at this company descends from the top. They adopt a rigid framework that seems optimised for an eventual buy-out; I can only speculate that this company is ultimately a vehicle for its owners' retirements. One director proudly boasted to me that he had never been an employee, failing to see how that could warp his understanding of the effects of wielding managerial power or add limitations to his empathy. Unsurprisingly, that same director publicly humiliated a low-level employee in the office for a small infraction. I still can't work out if that was a Learn, Care or Share moment, which are the purported company values. In marketing, expect arbitrary targets and a relentless focus on seeing all work through that lens. Sadly, the owners' understanding of how B2B marketing works for high-ticket, high value software is extremely limited. A favourite expression is they "manage by metrics". However, more accurate is they manage by *metric*, singular. That metric is leads. This (sort of) fits for a B2C SaaS company that charges $8 a month. It really can happen that someone clicks through from an ad and makes a purchase. But a singular focus on leads makes little sense for a business that has long buying cycles, very large annual costs, and which is targeting buyers that frequently already know the main options. Here the key concept is demand generation, but that's lost on them. You may think you can alter this understanding. You're a marketer who knows your stuff. But you cannot. So be prepared to step back in time, back to a world of MQL-chasing, where HubSpot and the Traction framework still rule unchallenged, and where the Harlem Shake is a thing. Come to think of it, I was once asked to look at making Elucidat "viral"; perhaps in their mind B2B elearning authoring tools will be the new Flappy Bird. I've said "owners" repeatedly, but that's not just the directors. As they've had considerable investment, they're now under the cosh, needing to meet their investors' expectations. This pressure does not dissipate – it *multiplies* downwards in some departments. It was sad to see formerly optimistic, pro-Elucidat people go from glowing five-star praise to sombre criticism over a period of years; I recognise one or two in these reviews. If you're looking for a marketing role at this company, pay very close attention to this review and another recent one. Ask some hard questions – and don't be fooled, as I was. It doesn't matter how good you are, if your work is ultimately going to be spent on a mad flailing to immediately conjure leads out of thin air based on a linear progression dreamed up in a boardroom. This is not a good way to be alive. It does not make you happy or connected to your work. You probably deserve better. I did, and I happily found it elsewhere.

Pros

There are lots nice people along with some good benefits.

Cons

Be very careful if you are considering joining Elucidat; because on paper it looks like a great company to join! For 2022 they had ambitious targets to increase revenue; and recruited four experienced sales professionals! After just ten months I was the last of the four to leave the company. I am someone who is very proactive in looking at new ways of working and making suggestions to improve process and results; I have also led large teams in my past. Key suggestions were made to the leadership team these were never even considered. Their approach to outbound is about all quantity and not quality. This was even highlighted by a number of the team at the Quarterly ORK meeting back in September where the whole sales and marketing teams meet to discuss of objectives for the next quarter but the way of working for Q4 remained the same. On my weekly 121 meeting back at the end of October 22, Out of the blue I was placed on a Performance improvement Plan this worried me as I had never been in this position before. We all have bills and mortgages to pay. I also believed that the targets set were unachievable and I had been set up to fail. In the meeting I asked if there was any possibility that I could be given 4 weeks’ notice at the end of this plan but the person leading this meeting did not know. After chasing on email and a phone call I received a reply 5 days later via email advising the follow ‘Should you have not made the necessary progress by the end of your Performance Improvement Plan period then you could be given either a first or final written warning. We would then review what progress has been made and suggest a new timeframe for you to improve your performance before any further action is taken.’ Forward to the last day of November, when in my PIP Review meeting, I was told that my employment was being terminated today i was then switched off all systems within 20 mins. I asked what about what I had been told in the aforementioned email (they could not or would not answer). During this whole process I was never offered a colleague or friend to be present at any of the meeting. I did not have any disciplinary record and the process in the company handbook was not followed. I flagged that a job vacancy, that looked very similar to mine, had been on the website for a few weeks. The salary and OTE was Substantially less than mine per Annum. I was advised this was not my job. The company advertise a ‘meeting-light culture’ however I have never worked for a company with so many internal meetings. This maybe a personal thing, but a weekly team meeting at 5pm on a Friday, when everyone is trying to get everything done to close the week and get a to-do list done for next week is this really the best use of time! In my 10 months there I can think of at least 13 people that have left the business LinkedIn currently list there are 71 employees which to my calculations would be an 18% Churn rate! I know a good percentage of these had meeting put on their calendar for the last day of the month and were let go at no notice! I understand things happen in business but to have one of the company values as CARE the words do not match up to the actions.
