uncomfortable and unprofessional culture

Pros

typical startup perks like fancy office, free snacks and lunches, gym reimbursement. some people could move between teams.

Cons

young "leaders" with no business trying to be leaders. they act like college kids, buddying up to favorites who they'd drink white claws with at the office when they were even at the office. execs were barely visible but would show up on occasion to enforce the inflexible work from home policy and fake "unlimited" vacation. pressure to drink at company events was huge and always came from the top. lack of female leadership or interest in promoting women or listening to them. company had an unhealthy obsession with competitors. regularly unproductive meetingsdue to lack of direction. zero communication or transparency about deadlines, goals, pivots, hirings/firings/people leaving the company. zero trust or care for employees. such an unprofessional place to work.

Sadly, it became “just a job.”

Pros

Catered lunch on Friday, plenty of resources, still plenty of smart people who are a pleasure to work with.

Cons

Leadership executives are implausibly bad. There was pretty horrible internal politics throughout all parts of the company. Unspoken requirement to be in the office until 8pm, even if you don’t have to be. The flexible vacation policy only works for some teams. The environment is getting very political and lacks transparency. The core product has not changed in years.

It's hard to adapt

Pros

You'll get used to it in time and learn. But then the stress would already start to materialize.

Cons

Lack of support and guidance for new employees, makes them so confused in their everyday work. The stress reach to very high levels for trying to catch up but still gets management disappointed. It's hard for new comers to adapt, and they need persistence.
