Pros

Working on the MBB team, compensation, fast interview process

Cons

You are a revenue stream to them, not a person to invest in as part of the firm. Fired 3 people on my team in 6 months…. And it’s a ~20 company. Below average benefits. Literally 20 minutes of onboarding which includes screen sharing a one page bulleted list of vague values. Never given a job description despite ongoing requests spanning months and false promises to provide. Total lack of engagement and awareness from leadership for what employees do everyday. Performance feedback is a joke because they don’t know what you do as a contractor. Lack of mentorship and coaching from firm (despite having a process and framework that wasn’t executed) Inside jokes that no one beyond the core team understand

Pros

- Leadership and management are extremely supportive of my career aspirations -- they try to align projects based on my professional interests (content, skills, etc.). I've had quite a few employers and I've never had an employer be so invested in my wellbeing at happiness. - Projects are meaty, great for developing management consulting skills, and provide networking opportunities with industry experts - Project-based consulting allows for a flexible lifestyle (can take breaks, etc.) - Unlike other project-based consultancy opportunities, you get benefits like health insurance

Cons

- Project-based consulting may not be suitable for some people's lifestyles (less benefits than a full time opportunity, less consistency, etc.)

Pros

Good pay, decent work-life balance if you are able to advocate for yourself. You get to work with MBB/Big4 firms without the negative up-or-out pressure

Cons

No real career progression available (you're just outsourced to other consulting firms) so the people responsible for your promotions aren't actually the ones you're meeting with day to day or producing the work for
