Pros

Half of this business (real) is amazing. It attracts smart and fun and interesting people. They have won some impressive awards and done really great creative work. The senior management on this side is excellent too...open minded, fun, professional and on top of where the industry is going. The leader on this side has a good industry reputation, speaks at a lot of conferences and brings good talent through the door.

Cons

The other side (6) of the business is the opposite. Closed minded, old school, doesn't support the growth of account staff and treats us like servants, doesn't understand what good work looks like and keeps old, way over paid staff on who stopped growing or caring 10 years ago. The two guys who run this side like to talk about their money, who they know and how hot their wives are, how one is a somellier, and how much they get to travel in the south of france. One is a creeper in a way that make most women in the agency really uncomfortable. it's a thing that gets talked about frequently and even though people laugh, it's pretty awful especially at staff parties. They are rude to the female management and that is obvious to us underlings. The other one yells at people and is a tyrant. He is impossible to work with and has made so many good people quit that its amazing that the holding company does not ask him to leave.

Pros

Some of the most talented and smart people work here. Not to mention caring, passionate and an utter joy to work with. Good exposure to the world of advertising, impressive client roster.

Cons

Teams can be cliquey and exclusionary if you’re new Creative team rarely gets promotions or recognition for their work, if ever. Often work ridiculous hours per week Promotions are dangled in front of people under the guise that they just have to wait for group promotion timing while responsibilities above their title just become expected with no thanks. A lot of dead weight on the account side, especially at Director level. Several don’t pull any weight in terms of execution but are happy to take the credit in front of clients and executive team. The technology provided to do your job is ridiculous.

Pros

Led by a transparent and approachable Executive Leadership Team that prioritizes working with individual employees to identify and build on their professional strengths, while also soliciting honest assessments of leadership's own performance in the pursuit of constant improvement . I never hesitated in approaching either of the Managing Partners or other members of the ELT, who never failed to make themselves available to discuss ideas, challenges, and proactive suggestions for further improvement. They provide opportunities for education and professional development, including an annual budget dedicated to employee education. They worked very hard during the Coronavirus pandemic to maintain a high level of transparency, and to understand the very real and unique challenges each of their employees are facing, even updating the benefits package to increase access to mental health support services. The Creative Studio is full of some of the best talent Toronto has to offer, and their commitment to excellence always set us up for success in everything from new business pitches to presentations for legacy clients. While a new opportunity has taken me in a different direction, I would consider returning to 6Degrees in the future.

Cons

As part of a larger agency network, they are not always able to move as quickly as they'd prefer in adopting new tools that would enable increases in workflow efficiency. While long hours are a staple of agency life, new tools would be crucial in improving work-life balance.
