Pros
•Everyone is super nice, from management to coworkers
•Due to the nature of our work and our mission, everyone is very understanding of the effects this job can have on your mental health and they genuinely do care and try to work with you and what you need.
•They provide lots of training, so it’s great for someone just starting as an EMT
•It’s a smaller company, so you get more one on one attention and everyone knows each other. Truly like a family.
•Overnight shifts give you a dollar more
•They have EMT ambos, so EMTs actually get to have their own patient and not just drive while paramedic do everything . So there is actual hands on experience for an EMT.
Cons
•No bonuses
• It can get repetitive
• Pretty low pay *but you can always pick up more shifts if you need the money*
•not a con but, it’s more psych/social calls, not 911, so if that high adrenaline rush responding to accidents and what not is what you want, this is probably not what you’re looking for. None the less, I still find it super interesting, especially if you’re into psych.
