Pros

If I were to write this review 10-12 years ago, I could easily fill up this entire page with pros and struggle to find any cons. Sadly, I can't do that anymore. It's not to say that they are a terrible company. I still consider them a good company to work for, especially if you are starting out. But, since it is a larger company, it really depends on the project and managers that you are working for. They do offer flexible work hours, which is great. You will not have to worry about a company that won't let you attend to your family or health with ASM. They are great about that. Depending on your role and standing with management, you have the ability to work remote. But that is not applied with any consistency. Some developers work remote full-time, some once a week, some none at all. They offer the corporate gimmicks of snacks and fancy coffee machines, and occasional events with catered food. The parking is free and plentiful. They offer wellness and educational benefits. Health benefits are OK, but better than nothing. Most of all, you'll get to work with some great people. That is the one pro I can't deny ASM.

Cons

The managers get bonuses based on the profitability of their project. If you are a techie, be warned that you will be working overtime and/or short staffed because the managers have a personal motivation for that. Same goes for raises and salaries. Everyone used to get bonuses, but not anymore. It's very unfair because most salaried developers work ALOT of overtime, and too often it's expected as business as usual. ASM was once a company that focused on customers and employees. But, over time the focus shifted to management. As that happened, I feel that ASM lost what made them rise above the competition: a workforce that would run through a brick wall to please the customer. Nepotism and favoritism runs rampant at ASM. It might create a family feel, unless you're one of those that are not in the 'family'. That's one of the reasons why you see such a mix of reviews for ASM. In any case, the real family feel of the company was replaced with some faux corporate version after it was acquired by Accenture. Employees used to own the company, were vested from day one, benefits were great, and there was little to no people that were contract-to-hire. That's all changed, and they are no different from any other company in that regard. It used to be easy to get a raise, without even asking. Now, it's not. They pay below market, and you have to fight to prove that you deserve to get paid what other companies are willing to pay you from day one.

Pros

ASM Research provides a collaborative engineering environment that empowers technical professionals to take ownership of massive, enterprise-scale performance architectures. The leadership strongly recognizes dedication and impact, creating a culture where mentoring peers and driving operational excellence are deeply valued. It is an ideal workplace for engineers who thrive on solving complex technical challenges while safeguarding mission-critical systems.

Cons

While ASM Research offers great stability, the specialized nature of long-term government contracts can sometimes slow down the adoption of modern, open-source automation tools and frameworks. Navigating the rigid compliance and bureaucratic layers required for federal systems can occasionally extend project timelines and administrative overhead. Additionally, engineers looking for rapid exposure to fast-paced, commercial tech stacks may find the environment more focused on maintaining and optimizing legacy enterprise architectures.

Pros

Training was good. Coworkers are helpful.

Cons

The pay! $18.81/hr is not worth the amount of work you have to do. They told us in training that there would be a minimal of 3 inbound calls. That was a lie. I've had more than 4 calls come through within the first 2 weeks. The amount of outbound calls you have to make are insane. It's a waste of time. And don't do the evenings because you'll do double the work on outbound calls with no pay differential. Everything is on a spreadsheet and the system that you do use doesn't work.
