Pros

It’s a good place to learn the basics of recruiting but you’ll want to continue your recruiting career somewhere else.

Cons

The majority of the management team that made this company great have left within the last few years. Most of them were with the company for more than 15 years but obviously saw the writing on the wall. Things are not good and people are leaving. ATR only values you if you “tow the line”. The mindset is that ATR ownership is never at fault and those leaving the company for another opportunity are making a big mistake. Management rarely even says “goodbye” to those leaving. I’ve seen long time employees walk out the door on their last day and the CEO just sits in her office acting like nothing is happening. No simple “thank you”. Nothing. Its heartbreaking to see. To make things worse, leadership often mocks and ridicules those who have left for a better opportunity. I’ve heard it with my own ears and its borderline disturbing. Proceed with caution if you are thinking about working here. Also, no laptops, only desktop computers? What Bay Area company still does this? It seems like they’ve been doing business the same way for 30 years. No real innovation. And none of their clients are any of the big Silicon Valley tech companies, which should tell you all you need to know. Working from home is not really an option unless you get permission. Most Bay Area companies trust their employees to get their job done and don’t care where you work. Not here. It’s the difference between treating your employees like adults versus treating them like children.

Pros

Lots of hard-working, under-paid people that I honestly feel sorry for.

Cons

The expectations at ATR are unrealistic and there is virtually no guidance or support to help employees achieve the required goals. I didn't realize how poorly ATR was run until I went elsewhere and experienced how a healthy, growth-minded staffing agency operates. It is clear now that there are a lot of pointless tasks and focusing on minor issues while larger problems loom and go unaddressed. The proof of this is the decades of flat or declining revenue. The best-case scenario for ATR's future is stagnation. That's best case. But with the immaturity and pettiness of the CEO, I expect a worse future for the company. Look elsewhere if you want to work for a company that has management capable of true leadership and the ability to successfully lead and grow a company.

ATR International Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. While we respect that employees may have different experiences, we strongly disagree with several of the assertions made in this review. ATR International has successfully served clients and candidates for more than 37 years, navigating multiple economic cycles, industry disruptions, and significant market changes. Sustaining a staffing and workforce solutions business over nearly four decades requires dedication, adaptability, strong client relationships, and the commitment of many talented employees who have contributed to our success. We are particularly proud of our team members, many of whom have built long-term careers with ATR and have played an important role in helping us maintain lasting relationships with both clients and candidates. Their professionalism and commitment are greatly valued. The comments regarding leadership do not reflect the experience of many employees, clients, and business partners who work with our CEO, Andrea Brenholz. Andrea has been with ATR for nearly 20 years and has served as CEO for more than eight years. During that time, she has led the company through unprecedented challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and one of the most difficult staffing markets in recent history, while maintaining the company's commitment to its employees, clients, and candidates. While individuals may have differing opinions regarding leadership styles, it is important to note that Andrea Brenholz has been recognized by her peers throughout the staffing industry. She has served on the Boards of both the American Staffing Association and TechServe Alliance and was recently elected President of California Staffing Professionals. These leadership positions are a reflection of the respect and confidence placed in her by fellow staffing professionals and industry leaders. Like any organization, we continually evaluate our processes, goals, and performance standards and are always looking for ways to improve. We welcome constructive feedback and regularly implement changes based on employee input. However, broad characterizations regarding leadership, company direction, or employee support do not accurately represent the experiences of many current and former team members. We remain committed to providing a professional, collaborative, and growth-oriented workplace and wish all former employees success in their future endeavors.
