Pros

There were a lot of good people and some are still there. Pretty good work life balance with only the occasional late nights. My boss did a good job of balancing the work loads of the team members. Good environment socially too but also comfortable for introverts. They did a great job with occasional happy hours and fundraisers where you get to meet a lot of people outside your team. They aspire to do great work. There are some good mid-level managers that really know how to lead and support people.

Cons

Higher levels are stagnant and appear to be riding out till retirement. Have gone through tons of layoffs the last few years and often odd decisions are made in that regard. There doesn’t seem to be much enthusiasm at the CD and Acct Dir levels and up. All the energy is below them and being squashed.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m glad your experience at AbelsonTaylor was largely positive. It’s great to hear your manager helped make sure your workload was manageable and you enjoyed the environment here. We try hard to make sure people get to know each other and have fun together, and we’ve gotten great feedback on our happy hours and social activities. Thanks for your advice about management and promoting others into leadership positions. Like every company, we’ll always have room for improvement, but upward mobility is something we focus on fiercely. We have a structured professional development program in place to help our employees grow their skills and advance their careers, and we’re proud that many employees have built successful careers with us. We are privately owned by 14 current employees, most of whom started in junior positions, and that number will only continue to increase. Our independence will continue to be one of our most enduring strengths now and in the future. Again, sincere thanks for your feedback, and best of luck wherever your career takes you. – Beth Carik, VP HR

Pros

A legitimate company but toxic and bullying

Cons

My experience at this company was deeply disappointing due to a toxic workplace culture. I faced bullying from colleagues, and instead of fostering teamwork and collaboration, the environment was driven by unhealthy competition. HR was consistently irresponsible and failed to address serious concerns. The hiring process seemed focused solely on academic background and work experience, with little regard for character or professionalism. Unfortunately, this created a management team and workforce that often reinforced the same negative behaviors. Overall, the culture felt superficial and hostile rather than supportive or inclusive.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. We take feedback about workplace culture seriously, which is why this review is concerning and does not reflect the environment we strive to create every day. At our agency, we are deeply committed to fostering a collaborative, respectful, and supportive culture. We also want to clarify that we do not have an HR department; our People Experience (PX) team is specifically dedicated to employee support, engagement, and wellbeing. Any reports of bullying, harassment, or inappropriate conduct would be addressed immediately and thoroughly, and to date we have not received concerns matching the circumstances described here. While we cannot verify the experience outlined in this review, we continuously evaluate how we can improve the employee experience and maintain a respectful workplace for everyone. We encourage any current employee with concerns to speak directly with our PX team or leadership so issues can be addressed constructively and confidentially.
