Pros

- Flexible WFH policy - Unlimited sick time* - Healthy snack and drinks - Monthly happy hours - Caring coworkers - Open office design - Convenient location - Periodic training and free lunches - Weekly company-wide meetings with updates from most departments - Great insurance benefits * This is coming into question more and more with some recent policy changes, but at the time of writing this, unlimited sick time is still a large benefit

Cons

- Time entry is strict and tightly integrated with company culture - Leadership views employees as numbers, don't seem to care much about individuals or mental health. Leadership considered it a success to have "forced out" several strong employees who were upset with recent changes - Company demographics are not very diverse - Leadership moves slow - Managers are poorly trained and inexperienced, yet overworked - Agile implementation was bad, resulting in a software development process that hurts both the company and clients - Company views any training or learning as off-hours opportunities and won't invest in the growth of its employees - Leadership believes employees should be working 45-50 hours per week. Work-life balance is becoming less important every day Developer Specific - Lack of exposure to new technologies - Every task is timed and the estimation process is bad, often resulting in poor code being written to hit deadlines and budget - No code review process, very little technical accountability. Seniors and Leads have typically been with Adage since college and don't have much exposure to industry best practices

Thank you for the feedback. I am sorry to hear that you had such an uncharacteristic experience with us. At Adage, we have a core value, "Adapt and Evolve". I am personally committed to this and we continue to strive to make Adage a better organization. As an organization experiencing 23% average growth year-over-year for the past 4 years, we have certainly experienced a lot of change. Our turnover is below 18% for the year, which is below industry average. As a digital agency, time tracking is necessary for the work we do. We’ve recently improved our time tracking software and always look to make the process better. Employees have always been able to put things like talking to co-workers on your time sheet. We have a good work/life balance: our employees average around 41 hours per week. We have billability goals that provide time for learning while still allowing the company to be profitable, so that we can provide employees with the salary, benefits and perks that our employees appreciate. I personally value every employee at Adage. I take the time to meet individually with every new hire several times in addition to having an open door policy. We also conduct semi-annual employee surveys and certainly look to improve based on the feedback with every survey. We think our culture is best reflected by our 8 years in a row of winning awards for “Best Places to Work”, “101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For” and this year “Crain’s Best Places to Work”. Hundreds of employee survey responses over 8 years went into winning these awards. We’re sorry your experience did not match our award winning results.

Pros

There are some talented people you can learn from. The work is fast paced, and can get experience using a variety tools in a variety of industries. Work life balance is pretty good once you’ve been there 1-2 years.

Cons

Few women in leadership roles, with no women managers on the developer side of the business. Very few women developers at all. Since 2020, there have been layoffs at least one a year. Business is very slow to come in, and they acquired a nearshore company which has been the focus. I expect continued domestic layoffs to be ongoing. The message is for the developers to try and be up-selling their current projects, since the sales team is having trouble bringing in new work. During a layoff last year, they let go the only two women in the company who had taken maternity leave. Work can be monotonous if on the same type of projects. Estimates and scope are always tight and expect the developer to make up the time or always do things faster.

Thank you for your feedback. We take concerns like these seriously and would like to clarify a few points: On inclusion and gender equity: We’re proud to share that nearly 30% of our Leadership Team is made up of women (2 out of 7), and we’re actively working to grow representation across all areas, including technical roles. In addition to our Leadership Team, we also have women in key leadership roles in HR and Development, reflecting our commitment to inclusive leadership across departments. We recently celebrated Women’s Week to highlight the impact and contributions of the women at Adage, and we remain dedicated to building an inclusive culture. On layoffs and parental leave: It is not accurate to say there have been layoffs every year. While we've had to make difficult decisions in response to broader economic challenges, they have not occurred annually, and we always approach such decisions with care, transparency, and respect for those affected. Additionally, the claim that layoffs were tied to maternity leave is categorically false—Adage fully supports parental leave and is committed to treating all employees equitably. On business focus: Our nearshore growth is part of a global strategy, not a shift away from domestic teams. We continue to invest in our people and deliver meaningful work across regions. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to listen, learn, and improve.
