Remember Circuit City? - Assistant Manager Advance Auto Parts Employee Review

Pros

Paid for ASE testing, as far as retail goes, it's pretty good. As a retail job, it's a very close-knit community, very small stores compared to other big-box retailers with comparable overall employee count. If you love cars, love selling things, it's great. If you love working on cars, you should probably get a job as a mechanic and make more than $8 an hour.

Cons

Low, low pay for the level of experience required to actually be good at the job. The CEO came from Best Buy, and is running it like Circuit City, cutting pay, cutting hours, cutting bonuses, and cutting morale company wide.

Pros

A lot of schedule flexibility

Cons

There is a lot of favoritism/bad management, especially in the DC that I work in. (DC-41)

Pros

It’s a pretty easy job, very fun people to work with. Hours as a driver are pretty consistent.

Cons

The pay isn’t great. It would be nice if the drivers were making at least $17 or $18 an hour. Also benefits don’t extend to health insurance only dental and vision if you are only considered part-time. Anybody that isn’t the GM, CPP, and RPP are considered part-time, regardless of the hours you get.
