Pros

It was okay the first couple of years, then the verbal abuse, politics, and gossip just started getting worse and worse. The pay and benefits were good, but that doesn't make enduring such treatment worth it by far if it's negatively affecting your mental health.

Cons

I felt that their culture was one of verbal bullying and toxicity. I complained to management several times about how poorly I was being mistreated, and they ignored me, denied that it was happening, or downplayed its severity. Employees that were the worse bullies continued to get promotions despite their mistreatment of others and singling out individuals (and turning others against that individual) if they didn't like them. In fact, the worse bullies would pretend to be your best friend at first, and then turn on you for no reason if it suited them. Although I didn't seek therapy, I believe that this job caused me depression, anxiety, and stress both when I was employed there and several years afterward.

Pros

Amazing staff, almost everyone is great to work with

Cons

Would not recommend working for Porter at this time. Staff is amazing but that is all. CNO and others in high ranking positions do not know how to run a company. Constant low staff due to, management not realizing they have to offer at least the same as other organizations to compete in hiring. Very little staff is hired. Then they do not try to keep staff they do have. No retention bonus expect for a yearly 0.30 cent raise. Instead of keeping staff that needs to transition to prn or part time, they just let them leave. Recently one of the hospitals best ER staff members needed to transition to part time, and let this person leave. Because of this, you can expect no consistency in your schedule. You will get moved around how they please. There are other bad decisions management makes but this is already long. Until this leadership group is no longer working at porter. Do not apply. They have ruined what is an otherwise great place to work.
