Pros

Cons

1) Bad culture and senior management - Every division has their own secret agenda instead of working towards its mission to serve the seniors of Singapore 2) Haven for Political drama - You are told to do based on who is requestor. Senior management sucking up to other Division chiefs or because they cannot offended. 3) It kills your passion - Employees lack passion or lose them after soaking in the culture Management created. People with passion and tries to fight the norms are blacklisted. Robots who do what they are told to do are well loved. 4) Not integrated within company - Divisons do not work with each other. Everyone thinks they are the experts 5) Senior Management form their own alliances and talk bad openly about others. 6) Bad Guidance - It is never management’s fault. They are quick to point their finger at the team for all mistakes. My ex DD created roadblocks but was never understanding when the timeline is delayed slightly due to his changes. At the end of the day, it is always our fault. 5) Unfairness - If the boss likes you, you can get away with murder, if not, he makes it obvious that you are his target. Staff on his good side gets alienated from the rest. 6) Bad ethics - A DD talks bad about his people to the rest of the team, trying to sow discord. There are stories of some senior management gossiping about his own team members to othe divisions. 7) Senior management doesn’t share insights. The boss might have an idea of what he wants, but will never tell you. You are left on your own to Guess what he wants. What kind of leader is waiting to pounce on own team for their mistakes?

Cons

It feels somewhat ironic that AIC was recognised as a “Best Employer 2026” and a people-first workplace. Over the past year, particularly with the new cluster head’s leadership in SGO, this has not fully reflected my experience. Her current management approach is highly KPI-driven, with strong emphasis on targets and performance metrics. While results are important, the nature of our work requires compassion, patience, and a human touch, which can sometimes feel overshadowed. Team interactions can be quite intense, with frequent questioning and interruptions during meetings. This has created a more pressurised environment, where staff are expected to constantly justify strategies and meet high expectations. While her leadership brings strengths in driving performance, a more balanced and supportive approach could help better align with the caregiving nature of the sector. The shift towards a more results-focused culture has also contributed to fatigue and turnover within the team.
