my line manager and the HR partner were both fantastic and tried numerous things to assist me but were consistently undermined by a Department Manager who created a hostile environment. I knew in my heart of hearts I'd attempted everything to return to work and was disappointed I couldn't manage it for them and I resigned from my post.
Cons
Department manager completely ignorant and unwilling to support colleagues experiencing mental health issues. Took 8 months to implement reasonable adjustments made by Occupational Health whilst maintaining surprise there was no improvement in my condition or attendance. Compounded by routinely reducing me to tears in 1-2-1 meetings with glorious lines like "you just need to try" "do you know how hard it is to run a department when you're off constantly" and more. Wanted to deny providing a laptop as a reasonable adjustment because he couldn't monitor my productivity and insisted on laptop not leaving the office - then attempted to gaslight me by asking at a WCA why I didn't take the laptop home to work on whilst off sick.
