Pros

Management really means well and tries to create a positive culture, It's government work. Easy money once the contract is won. The business has momentum because they are in with the right people on the customer side.

Cons

The emphasis on culture is cult-like and sometimes creepy. Using words like "coach' instead of "manager" doesn't change the fact that someone has power over you. Much of the leadership has worked together for many years, even at previous companies. It's a bit inbred. Many recent hires are from the leadership's old company. Combine that with a culture that emphasizes relationships over performance, and it makes being an outsider really difficult.

Pros

Good enough benefits. Having no manager is amazing. Good transparency about the business health. Most of the ICs you'll work with on your project team will be smart, kind, empathetic. Government contract work is some of the most rewarding work available, and agile 6 does much work with VA. It's gratifying to serve our nation's Veterans.

Cons

I joined agile 6 a few years ago and I went all in. I thought this was a place to spend a career. I drank the kool-aid about the people first culture, having others' back ("we've got your 6") and all that. Sadly, I have only experienced the bare minimum of support and I have regressed professionally. When you spend so much of your time on meetings, dealing with quirky stakeholders, problem solving on your own because the company has no recourse...your skills start to suffer. When the business suffered due to the change in presidential administration, agile 6 forced people between contracts to take pay cuts. Do you want to work at a company for several years only to be rewarded with a PAY CUT during a time of high inflation and looming recession?
