Pros
Agoda is very fast moving with a deeply ingrained orientation to data-driven experimentation and learning. This means that you can drive change at scale much more rapidly than in comparably-sized organizations. The culture of ownership also supports and encourages employees to go beyond their explicit role to drive the outcomes that matter to the business, with access to anybody they need to drive things forward. While we have hierarchy to organize the business, we strive to operate non-hierarchically when it comes to communications. Great environment to take on new projects and roles--I feel I've been stretching and learning the entire time I've been at Agoda, and there is healthy mix of challenge and support for doing new things and constantly improving. Very strong culture of direct and respectful communications in a great mix of people from all over the world. This can sometimes pose challenges in communications, but I feel we are good at working it through and being intentional about how we share information. Also, I appreciate that our leadership is willing to make the needed tough decisions but brings a lot of heart and care for employees into consideration.
Cons
The speed of execution, pace of change, and intellectual rigor of discussions and decisionmaking make Agoda a very demanding place to work. Also, I see that the level of directness in our communications can be difficult for some employees depending on their preference and experience, and we need to keep improving on how we can find the right balance. Compared to my prior employers (also tech companies), I find Agoda more caring/respectful, but for those coming from more traditional corporate environments it may be more than they are accustomed to.
