Pros

None, I was misserable every day I was there. The pay was so bad, and the benefits a joke. They said it was because they are a small company. Directors and above make so much more money than line workers. Hence, it is more about priorities rather than anything else. At least we can take home "defect" candles as long as we keep it quiet.

Cons

Leadership is TERRIBLE and culture is even worst. There is no real plan there's just reaction. Ohio keeps on changing plant managers (3 in 3 years), and each one is more incompetent than the one before. Safety is a joke. A temp got hurt and management gave them a gift card to avoid a workman's comp claim. Quality is BAD. The company makes 3 dollar candles that the client sells for 24 dollars. Multiple times whenever we ran short of frageance the manager told us to just mix with a different fragrance because "no one cares" and "we need to make quota".

Pros

Alene Candles was a great company to work for. People were nice and everyone contributed to the best of their abilities. Alene did a lot of work promoting a very positive culture and added a lot of activities for associates through the years. The company was not perfect, but what company is? Everyone was doing there absolute best and that's what counts. It is amazing to see how a senior leader like the COO knows the people on the floor by name.

Cons

It's a small company with a very seasonal product, so work can be a little hectic at times. This should not be a dealbreaker for anyone who is thinking about coming to Alene. Also, it is a small company so career opportunities are less. But Alene spends a lot of time compensating this by providing a lot of training and development like the leads program.

Pros

They pay on time. Coworkers are the best.

Cons

Pay is crap - they say they use a tool to set pay. It is very convenient how executives are paid a lot more than the rest of us for such a small company. Detached from reality - The new hampshire plant has not made money in years, went through a shift elimination and 2 rounds of layoffs. Yet, company spend a lot of money on a xmas party, and I bet you vp's and c suite salaries remain untouched. Either the business is super volatile, or leaders have no idea of how to run their business. - priorities are always changing and it seems that the strategy is no strategy. Project Everest - an absolute disaster. Supervisors are rude and condecending. It is said that company pays an A HUGE amount of money in offsite meetings for senior leaders . If we are so strapped, can't you do the meetings online ? c suite is super rude and duplicitous. This is not the place to realy make a career if u want to learn and grow.
