Pros

I joined this company in February with no real idea of what to expect. Although we are all based around the world, I found Altmetric to be really inclusive and generally everyone is friendly. We have the option to work from home or in the London office if you are based in London, but it is always going to be your choice. There is a lot of room for growth and to ask questions which is something I have always appreciated.

Cons

The work can be challenging and fast paced across all departments, so if this isn't what you are interested in, then this may be a con.

Pros

- Very good engineering team - No overtime work expectations - Very good work/life balance

Cons

- Tech ecosystem can be overwhelming for juniors/mediors - By being a part of Digital Science corporation, there is a growing trend in corporate mentality

Pros

- Working with awesome, talented, knowledgeable and friendly people - Really nice CTO who knows his stuff, is truly "part of the team" and is neither over-conservative nor over-adventurous with his decision making - A fairly loose company structure with competent management who cares about the people and doesn't focus solely on the bottom line - Company engagement with the scientific community and the wider field of altmetrics (conferences, etc) - Personal and professional development is actively supported without being suffocating, pedantic or authoritative - Good pay and benefits - Flexible working and great work-life balance - Nice location - Vast amounts of sweets/snacks are always on hand - Opportunities to socialise with coworkers (friday pubbing, summer & christmas parties, other occasional festivities) without any of the peer pressure or daily booze-up culture

Cons

- Some technical debt is always around but that becomes an issue with most companies as they grow - Career advancement opportunities are modest (again, a pretty typical thing in companies in between stages of growth), but company is recognising and addressing this need as best it can - Vast amounts of sweets/snacks are always on hand
