Pros

Decent pay, decent benefits, good bonuses, nice co-workers, remote work options, good severance package

Cons

I enjoyed working at Amgen until it became clear that promotions could not be gained without sacrificing one’s personal life and that requirements for promotions were very different for positions within the same department. Positions are being sent to India without any regard for experience, performance, or tenure. The decision is being framed as “increasing the global footprint” but we all know it’s about workers in India working for a fraction of the pay of US and EU workers. Frustrating and insulting to have this move framed as anything but cost savings since the workers in the US and EU are also well-qualified, and the time zone difference only introduces challenges.

Pros

Work from home flexibility and the summer and winter shutdown periods are a nice benefit. Good health insurance.

Cons

Management style can be controlling and micromanaging with expectations that shift without clear communication. Employees are held to high standards but not always given the support or clarity needed to meet them. Performance concerns are documented quickly without full context being considered. Culture does not match the company’s public image.
