Pros
AG is a great place with a mission of helping those facing domestic violence (and at the time, also gender based violence). Unfortunately, with years of poor management and Board members not truly in tune with both the cause and employees, the agency has never (and does not seem it will) reach its full potential. The services provided are good though and most employees can be counted on by clients.
Cons
If you have an in or essentially suck up to the Exec Director, you'll have a cushy job, and steadily increased pay. If not, you'll face slow advancement and job instability. Friendships are put above the mission and efficient agency management. Salary discrepancy is massive (for $26k for difficult & overnight shelter work, versus $60k for full time "outreach" staff). Non-profit with heavy dependence on state funding, which causes further instability.
