Pros
There is a vast amount of knowledge to be gained about different jobs in the engineering fields. In the first month alone you can expect to learn about the distinctions between different engineering fields and the technologies used across them. Great opportunity to familiarize yourself with making cold calls to businesses and get comfortable with it.
Cons
The vast majority of your work day will be making phone calls to people who don't want to speak to you, if they even answer the phone in the first place. There is almost a lack of company culture beyond negative attitudes. The management team doesn't seem to know how to lead. The territory of sales you focus on will definitely determine your success in the role as they have not maintained all of the states they extend their services to. You are required to work in the office the entire week which is fine besides the fact that it is a lackluster office where you might even fight to stay awake. Management rarely tries to connect with employees unless for negative reasons. There is a level of unprofessionalism when these negative conversations are had. It almost feels like being sent to the principal's office in grade school. If you are struggling within the role you will spend 30 minutes being told it is because of your own performance rather than having solution-driven conversations. The morale in the office is low due to the "walking-on-eggshells" environment that has been curated. The overall negativity from management can make the role very discouraging.
