Pros

Apollo just raised $100 million at a $1.6 billion valuation, and the opportunity to work at such a company has been incredible. During my year and a half here, my experience has been very positive. What I love about Apollo is that you can fully own the initiatives you're working on. I was able to start a department from scratch, which was challenging but extremely rewarding. We have very talented people on the team; you can learn from some of the brightest minds in the industry. You get to work fully remotely, and we do get a budget so that you can do city meet-ups, as well as there has been a company offsite so that everyone can meet in person. Apollo strongly encourages continuous learning, providing a dedicated budget for courses, workshops, conferences, and community memberships related to your role. Last but not least, the product truly is world-class. I always talk to customers, and having customers who want to advocate for your company makes you proud.

Cons

Apollo has a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift, which is only for some. You need to be flexible and willing to adapt. Other than that, I have seen a high turnover rate in some teams, which is always hard to see people go.

Thanks so much for your comprehensive review and for being part of our growing Partnerships team! There is a lot to unpack in your review! It's great to hear your having such a wonderful experience at Apollo and appreciate the call out on autonomy, remote working, the talent of the team around you and the drive to ensure everyone is learning and growing here. Also, duly noted your call out on the fast-paced environment, and the shifting priorities that can sometimes happen in here as the company pivots its strategies to react to opportunities ahead of it or challenges that it needs to tackle. I also want to acknowledge the call out on high turnover rates, which is something we're working on and are focused on to ensure we create a world class employee experience for all. I'll make sure to pass on your concerns on that to our leadership and People teams. -Declan

Pros

The company gives engineers a lot of ownership and trust. You are encouraged to take initiative, make decisions, and drive projects end to end rather than just following instructions. The pace is fast, but in a good way — teams move quickly, experiment often, and are generally open to adopting whatever tools, processes, or technical approaches are best for the company and customers.

Cons

Nothing major comes to mind. Like any fast-moving company, there can be moments of ambiguity, but that is also part of the ownership and high-impact environment.

Pros

Only the fact that it's remote work, and maybe not even that.

Cons

Not even sure where to start with this company. This is probably one of the most erratic companies I have NOT had the pleasure of being a part of. The lack of structure within job roles is alarming. There were several employees that I worked with who literally had no idea what their true job descriptions were, with the responsibilities and priorities within roles shifting almost daily, leaving people stressed and confused. Upper management is absolutely clueless about the day-to-day, nor do they care to be involved. The expectation is to "just do" and "do it fast" without question, even at the expense of your time, mental health ect. I honestly have never experienced such a company absent a clear framework. They use about 100 different "productivity tools," which makes it close to impossible to work cohesively and produce high-quality work. Everyone is basically operating on their own and "hoping" for successful results. The turnover is super high, and people are leaving left and right, which is a huge red flag. I would not at all recommend this company if you are looking for a place that offers any kind of structure, work-life balance, or an organized environment.
