Pros

Pro's Unicorn Velocity in AI & PLG As a SaaS unicorn ($150M+ ARR and accelerating), Apollo lives at the bleeding edge of innovation. Esp lately wrt/ AI-native motions. Expect to build category-defining products in a market where ripping PLG success is real here. Fast-Paced & Growth-Oriented You’ll collide daily with wicked-smart, restless operators. If high tempo energizes you, Apollo is the place to be. If not, you will wash out (or be washed as the case may be). Global, Remote-First Workplace Flexibility reigns with a fully remote setup and a truly international team ("The sun never sets on Apollo"). This model empowers diverse collaboration across time zones while offering work-life autonomy. Unifying Events & Culture Well-produced in-person/virtual events bridge the remote gap meaningfully. These gatherings strengthen team bonds, celebrate wins, and reaffirm Apollo’s cohesive culture. Reward for Self-Starters Self-motivation is paramount. Apollo empowers those who proactively hustle, execute independently, and bring discipline to navigate the remote landscape. Success here rewards initiative and grit. Rock solid benefits, stock options, bonus structure, and stipends. Learn voraciously is actually a core value and a thing here.

Cons

Culture Isn’t for Everyone Apollo’s relentless pace and intensity isn’t suited for those looking for a slower tempo or a “Country Club” experience. Burnout or turnover can happen if you struggle with constant change and high expectations. As Apollo has transitioned from a startup vibe to a global unicorn, some early cultural hallmarks have shifted. The rapid evolution might've been disorienting, and the company is not immune to growing pains or attrition—especially among those slow to adapt. AI-Driven Complexity The company’s deep embrace of AI and automation means that adaptability and technical fluency are essential. If you’re not comfortable with AI tools or rapid tech adoption, it’s easy to feel behind or overwhelmed. Remote-First Challenges While remote work offers flexibility, it also requires communication, self-management, and boundaries. If you lack discipline working solo, the autonomy can feel isolating. Not everyone thrives in this environment. Steep Learning Curve & High Bar With high autonomy comes high expectations for self-direction and rapid learning. The “sink or swim” dynamic is real—if you can’t keep pace, there’s little hand-holding along the way. Not for the Risk-Averse Rapid growth brings ambiguity, shifting priorities, and imperfect processes. If you’re looking for structure, predictability, or long-standing playbooks, you may find Apollo’s environment unsettling.

Apollo.io Response

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to share such a thorough and insightful review of your experience at Apollo.io. We truly appreciate your detailed perspective, especially as a VP in Labs. It's fantastic to hear that our unicorn velocity and AI-native approach resonate with you, and that you're experiencing the excitement of building category-defining products and real PLG success. We absolutely pride ourselves on fostering a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment where "wicked-smart, restless operators" can thrive, and it's great to know our global, remote-first model and unifying events are creating a cohesive and empowering experience. We also value your acknowledgment of our rock-solid benefits and the core value of "learn voraciously." We also deeply appreciate your candid feedback on the "Cons." You've perfectly articulated that Apollo's relentless pace and intensity truly isn't for everyone, and we strive to be transparent about that from the outset. We recognize the challenges of navigating rapid growth and the transition from startup to global unicorn, which can indeed feel disorienting as hallmarks shift. Your points on AI-driven complexity, the demands of remote-first work, the steep learning curve, and the reality of a "sink or swim" dynamic underscore the unique profile of a successful Apollonaut. This environment demands adaptability, self-direction, and a comfort with ambiguity, and we are indeed built for those who thrive in that dynamic. Regarding your advice to management: We are absolutely committed to 'keeping the pedal to the metal' and maintaining our aggressive growth trajectory as we continue to innovate. Your suggestion regarding employees purchasing Apollo shares on the secondary market is valuable feedback, and we continuously evaluate all avenues to further align our team's interests with the company's long-term success as part of our holistic total rewards strategy. Thank you again for your genuine and balanced feedback. It helps us continue to refine our journey as a high-performance, impact-driven organization. Best, Declan

Pros

The company gives engineers a lot of ownership and trust. You are encouraged to take initiative, make decisions, and drive projects end to end rather than just following instructions. The pace is fast, but in a good way — teams move quickly, experiment often, and are generally open to adopting whatever tools, processes, or technical approaches are best for the company and customers.

Cons

Nothing major comes to mind. Like any fast-moving company, there can be moments of ambiguity, but that is also part of the ownership and high-impact environment.

Pros

Only the fact that it's remote work, and maybe not even that.

Cons

Not even sure where to start with this company. This is probably one of the most erratic companies I have NOT had the pleasure of being a part of. The lack of structure within job roles is alarming. There were several employees that I worked with who literally had no idea what their true job descriptions were, with the responsibilities and priorities within roles shifting almost daily, leaving people stressed and confused. Upper management is absolutely clueless about the day-to-day, nor do they care to be involved. The expectation is to "just do" and "do it fast" without question, even at the expense of your time, mental health ect. I honestly have never experienced such a company absent a clear framework. They use about 100 different "productivity tools," which makes it close to impossible to work cohesively and produce high-quality work. Everyone is basically operating on their own and "hoping" for successful results. The turnover is super high, and people are leaving left and right, which is a huge red flag. I would not at all recommend this company if you are looking for a place that offers any kind of structure, work-life balance, or an organized environment.
