Pros

Being an RBT in itself is a rewarding job, BCBAs are FOR THE MOST PART very understanding and supportive. Co-workers are also very nice and supportive of one another

Cons

- Management does not seem to care for employees - Lack of communication between higher ups - Will not get paid for client cancellations - Will get reprimanded for taking days off so it is difficult to have a work/life balance and can sometimes be draining as the job in itself is not easy - Difficulty getting re-staffed if you lose a client, so again, you will be missing out on pay - There is a “pay tier” based off how many hours you work so your pay will not be consistent. A high pay is advertised but with the amount of cancellations and lack of available clients it’s nearly impossible to consistently get paid at that rate - You will get in trouble for trying to assist others - They have a BCBA exclusive bathroom, staff is to share bathrooms with clients - There are no yearly pay raises

Thank you for your feedback. We do value our employees and try to show our appreciation in many ways. We offer very competitive rates and we recently offered pay increases even though insurance companies did not increase their billable amounts. Dealing with health insurance companies can be challenging, but we do what we can. We also offer health benefits and 401k for employees working 30+ hours per week. We host quarterly staff get togethers and team building, we have an annual Christmas party and other holiday festivities. We often surprise therapists with coffee, donuts, pizza, lunch, etc.. If a therapists needs a toy or programming item for their clients, it's almost always provided. We definitely care about our employees and our clients and I sincerely do not wish for any of our therapists to feel that way. When scheduling and working with multiple clients in a work week, there will often be cancellations or things that may come up on both sides. . If these are happening infrequently, we encourage families and therapists to do the best they can to reschedule. If these cancellations seem excessive, we encourage you to bring this to the attention of your supervisor so that we can discuss the importance of consistent therapy with the family. Unfortunately, insurance companies will not allow RBT's (or any health professional for that matter) to bill for cancellations or late session. As far as turnover rate goes, we have many employees with us for a long time several over a decade. I am sure there are many factors involved, but due to the challenging nature our field, turnover rates will be higher in general.
