Pros
The work itself is easy and somewhat therapeutic; clearing cages full of stock specifically.
Cons
- Managers are so pushy about KPIs because the commission goes into their own pockets. - Employee feedback is skimmed over. When asked about employee incentives I.e. paid lunch, small bonuses etc. they responded by offering us coloured wristbands (bought from Poundland) where each colour represents a "good thing you did" - I cannot make this up. - I got a written warning for not meeting KPIs when I was on a 7 hour per week contact filling shelves. How can you meet KPIs if you aren't even on a till? - Rather than giving you more hours, they will hire 20 different staff with 7 hour contracts each. I would have made more money claiming JSA than working this job. I was taking home £200 a month. Luckily I was a student. - They deliberately give you 3.45 hour shifts so that they aren't legally obligated to give you a break. - Management are opaque. I worked in Lisburn shortly before it closed down (which I predicted) and management and higher management actively tried to cover the fact that Lisburn branch was haemorrhaging money due to low sales. - Care more about their corporate image - which is abysmal regardless - than they do about their employees.
