Ability to excel in technical arena without moving to management track. Diversity of personality types -- including introverts can succeed. Science is respected. Senior leadership comes from many different disciplines -- company is not just run by marketers or accountants.
Cons
Poor incentive compensation. Self-driven careers and career flexibility mean that people and often move into roles for which they are ill-prepared and get stuck there. Need to drive own career means that senior roles are often filled with people who are self-promoters. Employees are functional with high walls between functions -- people are not expected to be business people. Ex-pat assignments (delegations) are very restrictive and not very lucrative. Germans still dominate the company.
