Pros
As my first job in advertising, but by far not my first creative leadership role, I learned a great amount in the 9 months I was an Art Director at BOLD. The founder is clearly invested in each one of his employees and pays to cultivate their growth. Me and my former employees were given group and one-on-one business counseling in order to be more effective employees and individuals. Few bosses ever put in this type of investment into their employees. Projects were diverse, everyone is super talented and respectful. Everyone takes on multiple roles and is a great learning environment.
Cons
The reason I am no longer with BOLD was lack of interest. I am much further along in my career than the requirements of this job. I was less of an Art Director and more of the artist who executed the projects. There was no one to Art Direct. Unfortunately this is how it is with small businesses / startups, there isn't always the work to cater to every employees desires. However, on-set experience was one of the main selling points for my employment and there was little of this offered in my time there. I was let go for my lack of interest, but I harbor no resentment. I did not want to be there anymore. There is a bright future for BOLD, but they were not large enough yet to be a place i could continue learning from.
