Baringa Partners Response
8yAs the Partner responsible for our People agenda at Baringa, I can confirm that I’ve never ridden a horse, let alone owned one, and went to the local comprehensive school. It is our belief that the vast majority of people at Baringa are having a lot of fun building a genuinely different consulting business; the recent external validation for this approach was winning Number 1 spot at the UK Great Places to Work awards and it was really encouraging to understand that people outside the firm believe that we are getting a lot of things right. Despite this validation, we welcome all input, including your comments, and we are determined not to rest on our laurels – we strive, and I mean strive, to improve every year and give everyone at Baringa the best experience and opportunity we can.
I would fundamentally disagree that Baringa wants ‘everyone to fit a mould’. We are, of course, committed to the values and behaviours that underpin our company and culture, but continue to attract diverse talent (in the fullest sense) and create an environment where people can be true to themselves. The feedback from our events is overwhelmingly positive, and our employees continue to shape how we spend time with each other, network, celebrate success and of course have fun, which is something we are not ashamed of. Above all, we continue to ensure there is something for everyone.
The Baringa atmosphere, community and culture remains at the heart of our decision-making and is at the centre of our strategy . We believe we have a unique heritage, a unique Partnership model and an enormous amount of talent throughout the firm, elements that when combined produce an environment that gives our people a great opportunity to develop themselves and take our firm forward. Above all else, Baringa remains proud of its entrepreneurial spirit and giving people the chance to write their own story – the growth in our business is not a strategy, it’s an outcome of the talent we have within the firm and their desire to take new capabilities to clients, branch into new industries or work in other geographies. Our hierarchy remains flat and our leadership listens to ideas from people across the company, in fact it’s a constant reflection for us that our best ideas have come from individuals within our business rather than the leadership – this approach has enabled us to achieve what we have and remain close to everyone in the firm, and we don’t see ourselves changing.
