Pros

Free products when I signed on as an employee.

Cons

I worked in one of the highest volume stores in Austin, TX. There was clearly favoritism there. The seasonal employees are worked like dogs, used and abused. They do the grunt work while the favorites get to stand behind the register. The store is very busy around the holidays and there are a lot of throw away seasonal employees hired. The second they see you stop to take a breath, you get cut. I was given 8-9 hour shifts and they work you until they break you...I didn't get a break until 5 hours into my shift. At one point I had to ask permission to go to the bathroom. I was forewarned that the manager there was psychotic, but took the job anyway. In hindsight I should have listened to that other former employee.

Pros

Great brand to work for! Corporate leaders are great at motivating team down to associate level. (Not sure about Daniel yet though, I’m mostly referring to the tentured leadership team) There’s access to tools that offer clear communication (almost too much communication sometimes). Development is the core of this brand and managers are trained to foster internal talent when it’s identified. The product sold here is cherished by a huge fanbase as well- customers feed off of the excitement the associates have around the product.

Cons

Operationally demanding and challenging; don’t underestimate how much labor and planning goes into selling candles and lotion.
