Pros

Small beach town resort hospital that still cares about its community, staff and patients. Great patient to nurse ratios, a lot of support in place for when things do get dicey (vascular access, RRT, respiratory, behavioral resource etc). Management and administration are very supportive. Very friendly staff and everyone says hi. Pay is decent and healthy care benefits and 403b are equally decent

Cons

None really. Being located in a resort town, traffic can be a nightmare in the summer time. Advancement may be limited since it is a small community hospital but they actively encourage education and tuition reimbursement. It can get busy, but that is in any nursing position.

Pros

decent area to work in, considering there are things to do here. I was a traveling nurse at this location and thats the best way to work in this facility. Do not become an actual employee of this place.

Cons

I am use to being a traveler but this place put me in a lot of difficult situations. They would make travelers charge nurses because they had no one else. They have no communication among their staff. They do not like people that ask questions about anything. I had extended a couple of times at this hospital but after each contract it got worst working there. They do not value expertise and I see a lot of their long time nurses are leaving because they are cutting their pay and thats tough because they have so many new graduate nurses and they need someone to learn from and theres probably not going to be anyone at some point. These new graduate nurses are from the hospital nursing program and its a diploma program and maybe its a good program but you couldnt pay me to go there. Many of those nurses are not ready to be nurses from that program and they come with a sense of entitlement. You have to be open to learn in nursing and if you dont well then you limit yourself and dont provide the best care to the patients and thats who ultimately is paying for this lack of knowledge and skill. My contract got ended because they didn't want me to ask about switching a shift with someone one. Thats how petty this place is. If you are a traveler this place is good enough for one contract then move on its not worth staying there. If you want to be staff just run away and find another place to work that will serve you better than what this place can offer you. Also this place does not have many policies in place so you kind of working on your own and they do not care about having certain policies in place. Plus the people that work there think its about the standard of care and not the SOPs but its really about the SOPs because they are the standard of care.
