Pros
The hardest part at first is just learning your fruit and veggie codes. Once that is done, just be careful with overages/shortages and it's an easy job. Fellow cashiers were great but other departments tend to not speak too much with each other. Usually busy so the day went fast. If you spend a few months as a cashier and do really well, then you would most likely get promoted to a bookkeeper and can work up from there. If you like fast-paced environments, this is the place for you.
Cons
ALWAYS understaffed at front end. Fellow bookkeepers worked up to 55 hours a week. I usually worked 35 but they would have given much more if I weren't in school. Scheduling manager wasn't the best at making the schedule so we would build up HUGE lines with only a few cashiers. Cashiers tend to quit often which means the new people were always slow. Store managers are neutral towards cashiers, worry more about bookkeepers. Bookkeeping/CSM was very stressful because of lack of cashiers. Rude customers came very often but most were good.
Even though this job has its cons, it wasn't terrible. If you already have a busy schedule, this place will add even more stress. HOWEVER, it taught me a lot about dealing with people and I met great coworkers here.
