Pros

The ability to work remotely is useful

Cons

Extremely top heavy "management" structure where a board of directors do very little. The left hand doesn't know what the right one is doing. Outside of that the broader management structure is useless. Many months of promises of improved conditions and systems lead to nothing at all. Complaints fall on deaf ears. Systems that are (apparently) worked on for months never seem to materialise either. When staff develop their own they're chastised as though the ominous "fixing system" will address the wider problems but as it never appears staff are forced to create their own. Their hands are tied. When issues do occur management are slow to react. Dithering is the firm's main achievement. Everything feels extremely unprofessional you can tell this in the way some of those in leadership speak to and about others. Every colleague I had (and myself) were almost always over capacity with work. If you were to voice you were struggling nothing would change or you'd be lied to and advised you would receive no more files for a duration (and then would receive some more) Obscenely high targets are set that no one can reasonably expect to achieve. Bonus opportunities are impossible because the firm asks for far too much in impossible conditions. The firm want to give the appearance of having it together but are extremely disorganised. The turnover has been markedly higher than other firms I've spent time in which I think is a real tell as to culture. The friends I did make there are desperately unhappy.

Good morning, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We have only recently signed up for an Employer page so I note this review was left two years ago. However, it still is deserving of a response and it is important that everyone that takes the time to share their thoughts should feel heard. A significant amount has changed in the firm since 2022 so at the risk of making my response unbelievably lengthy, what I can say is that there has been substantial investment and development in technology, support teams and creation of new processes to assist our teams in undertaking their work. This was almost entirely led by feedback from those on the ground undertaking the work themselves. We continue to develop resource and improve processes and have moved to a quarterly target system which better reflects the peaks and troughs of a typical conveyancing transaction. This has been gratefully received. I am confident if you were to review the firm now having experienced a number of huge changes, it'd certainly feel different. We continue to strive to create better systems and look forward to their ongoing development for the benefit of all of our colleagues. Kind regards, The Bishopsgate Law team
