Pros

A great family environment which gives you an opportunity to learn very quickly on lots of different types of projects. You learn how to finish your projects against tight deadlines and learn how to work efficiently. They do lots of fun things which creates a great team.

Cons

The deadlines sometimes great pressure, but that is sometimes a result of others in the team not doing their work and you having to help out.

Team culture and driving this through events and gatherings is something we enjoy doing. When a team feels connected, that is when good things happen and the best work gets done! Thank you for your review!

Pros

Lots of work to do in a variety of technologies so you can potentially learn a lot in a short amount of time.

Cons

Typical stressful agency. Pay is ok. They will take on any crap project as long as it pays in pounds. That's the entire business model. Set up shop in Cape Town, pretend to be a London business, bill in British Pounds, and pay salaries in South African Rands. Because most of the work is from other agencies they have very little say in timelines, so the project management is very poor. I'd stay away unless you have no choice and just need some experience. Then I'd jump as soon as you've got it.

Thank you for your review. Bluegrass originally "grew up" during the dot com era (early 2000's) in the UK in fact, and that is where the majority of our staff were based and where we were delivering 90% of our projects. This changed slightly during the 2008 economic crash, and we operated with staff and a presence in both London and Cape Town. We have both a UK business and an SA business in the group, operating under the name Bluegrass Digital, and we have a good spread of clients and projects across both. In 2016 we were still doing a lot of UK project work and this has always swung with the economic tides... and right now (2024) we are doing a lot more South African work and projects. Today we are fully based in Cape Town, and the model is one of working with our own direct clienbts (which is the majority of our projects) and working with partner agencies - either as their technical partner or delivery the end-to-end project ourselves. We work with clients around the world. Thank you for taking the time to lave your review.

Pros

Bluegrass Digital genuinely feels like a place built around its people, not just its placements. The culture here is rare, high performance is expected, but it never comes at the cost of support or humanity. Leadership (shoutout to James, Nick and Mark) leads with openness rather than pressure, and that trickles down into how the whole team operates collaborative, straight-talking, and quick to celebrate wins together rather than competing for them. What stands out most is how much room there is to actually be yourself here. Whether it's the way the team shows up for each other on tough days or the genuine investment in growth (not just sales targets), it doesn't feel like a typical Corporate grind. There's real entrepreneurial energy too if you have ideas, people want to hear them, and there's space to build things rather than just execute a script.

Cons

Honestly, hard to find a real complaint. If I'm nitpicking, things move fast here, so you do need to be comfortable figuring things out on the go rather than waiting for a perfectly mapped-out process but that's the nature of a growing, ambitious company, not a flaw in how it's run.
