Pros

Initially was a great place to work, good assignments, interesting and helpful colleagues and managers. For most of time great support of work life balance and flexibility, especially with work assignments. The benefits were (and are still ) reasonably good. Opportunities for training related to job performance were supported and initiative rewarded. For a long time, collegial work environment.

Cons

On a large scale Booz Allen seems to be compensating for several bone headed executive level mistakes and the results are being felt by the general population in extreme. Since IPO workplace culture and attitude toward team/staff has noticeably deteriorated. The political structure is more like junior high and less like a top tier professional services firm - the in crowd rules. Always thought that observation was a joke until experienced it first hand and seen all around the firm. Hiring surge in anticipation of work that did not and will not materialize due to extensive defense and other government client budget issues is having a domino effect on staffing. An Ill- conceived and executed, expensive and ineffective work place strategy has demoralized many - a lot of money spent allegedly to save money is costing dearly in employee morale and productivity. Senior team managers are becoming arrogant and absent, and are obsessed with pressure from above on cost cutting measures, diluting staff talent pools, preserving their own turf and pushing their own agendas. Complete break down of honoring, valuing and appreciating formerly strong core values and work place culture of inclusion and diversity. They should really re-evaluate all the hype in their external communications because that Booz Allen Hamilton is history.

Pros

Strong mission-focused culture with meaningful work supporting national security missions. Great exposure to diverse projects, talented teammates, flexible work arrangements, and opportunities to develop skills across security, intelligence, cyber, and consulting. Benefits and professional development resources are solid.

Cons

The company culture and employee experience have changed significantly in recent years. Earlier years felt more mission-focused and employee-centered, while recent organizational shifts, government spending pressures, and increased emphasis on becoming a technology-focused company have created uncertainty for some employees. Frequent changes in priorities, restructuring, and business decisions can make job stability feel less predictable. Employees may sometimes feel disconnected from leadership, and concerns raised through HR or management channels do not always appear to result in meaningful action or transparency.
