Above market pay, but zero job security and a high-stress environment - Technical Support Engineer Broadcom Employee Review

Pros

The compensation, equity, and benefits are definitely above the market average, which is the main draw. You get to work on massive enterprise-scale environments and handle complex routing, mail flow, and network security issues for high-profile global clients. The technical level of the actual engineering peers you work with is genuinely high, so you learn a lot.

Cons

The biggest issue is job security. The company operates on a ruthless acquisition and cost-cutting model, meaning massive, sudden layoffs and restructuring are always a looming threat. Teams are constantly stripped down to run incredibly lean, which spikes the daily ticket volume and ruins work-life balance for those who stay. There is zero transparency from upper management about organizational changes, and you constantly feel like just a number on a spreadsheet.
