Pros

They have dental coverage benefits and massage therapy benefits. They say they have open door policy but don't believe that for a second.

Cons

The district and regional managers are bullies. They dont visit the store very often, but when they do they nit pick everything and do not give credit where credit is due. They give unrealistic goals and do not pair workers fairly at all. Workplace morale is the lowest of their concerns. Store managers consistently go improperly trained and then either get fired for doing something wrong they didn't know about or they quit due to stress of not getting any support or guidance. When you bring issues up to upper management they go ignored. Health & Safety and Food Handling there is unsafe. The food in a barrel could be 5 years old, they don't care. They seem bothered when management goes to then with questions and concerns, then tell you to do your due diligence and figure it out yourself, then when the district manager and regional manager come by the store they get mad at you for overstepping. The company expects you to use your own personal vehicle to do bank runs, supply expense runs, transfer products to other stores on your own dime. I asked what if I get in a crash on company time, who is paying for the damage? Who's insurance gets affected? And they fired me a month after asking these questions for a small mistake made on my end. Since I got fired, 4 other people have quit. I know workers who have been there for 8+ years and they only make 40 cents more than someone who got hired yesterday. They truly do not care about their workers at all. Toxic politics. Negligence in training. Highschool behavior from management.

Pros

-Small stores and few employees per shift, ability to make good relationships. -Great first job for young people/people still in school -Minimal stress when you have a good team i.e. don't have to worry about slackers making head office upset -25% employee discount (corporate stores)

Cons

At least at the corporate store level, good work is not recognized. Employee reviews mean nothing and you will make basically the same as someone who does the bare minimum/someone who has been with the company for a much shorter time than you. This has been especially noticeable since Ontario made the jump to $14 minimum wage a few years ago
