Pros
This company cares tremendously about its employees and members. Tough times show who people really are and, especially now, I am grateful to be at a company that puts people first. While the prior CEO was beloved, there was a tendency for gossip and meanness that was poisoning the organization. From what I can see, that is no longer perpetuated or tolerated. The new CEO came up from the ranks but avoids the pettiness. He is about making this credit union the best it can be for staff and members. This company invests in ways to improve technologies and infrastructure. Staff always get opportunities to learn new skills and members benefit from continual improvements in products and services. As others mentioned, salaries and benefits are good, along with plenty of staff recognition programs!
Cons
Many/most of the staff are locals which can, in some cases, lead to more narrow world views. Although people are friendly, it can take a while for new hires to feel at home - it depends on which department you are in. Some of the staff are scared of change. I hear this most from those who have been here 15+ years (realizing longevity doesn't always predict resistance to change). There is still a culture of CYA from the prior CEO where failure was not acceptable and people got publicly ridiculed, but that is changing. No place is perfect but the management DOES care.
