Not Dependable, but may fit some schedules - Retail Merchandiser CROSSMARK Employee Review

Pros

Large majority of positions are part-time retail merchandising positions. These allow for some scheduling flexibility which is great if you have multiple jobs or kids. Employees are paid on a weekly basis and have a choice of check or direct deposit. The company offers medical insurance to both full-time and part-time as well as 401k, car insurance discounts, and other perks you don't usually get in a part-time position.

Cons

*The company has had numerous difficulties over the last couple of years with retaining contracts with companies such as Walmart. This has caused some difficulties with entire teams being laid off with little notice, leaving large numbers of employees scrambling for transfers to new teams (if there are any open positions in your area) or for new employment. *Communication between the numerous levels of management is horrible and between management & non-management employees is even worse. Stores are assigned, then taken away with no notice; team requirements changed; per-mile reimbursements modified... with no notice until well after the fact (or you find out when your team supervisor takes action against you). *Team supervisors and management vary across the board and are not trained for their positions. Most below the regional level have no power to make any decisions or changes to even the most basic of inquiries or requests. The company is so huge and departments so disconnected and compartmentalized, it can take weeks to get an answer to even the simplest of questions, if you get one at all. *Team recruiters may exaggerate or outright lie to an applicant to get them to join a team. I suspect (but have no proof) that recruiters are judged on how many applicants they can acquire. Again, this last statement is conjecture, but circumstantial evidence lends itself to this conclusion. *There are no minimum number of hours set for part-time employees. A team member can receive as little as 1hr of work per pay period (generally every two weeks) and can change at any time without notice. The part-time positions are more supplemental than sustainable in terms of income; i.e. do not depend on these positions to pay your bills. *Training is non-existent. Unless you are lucky enough to be placed on a team with a supervisor that chooses to train their team members, you will have to learn on your own. *Some teams are not given the tools they need to complete jobs, especially within the time frame assigned by the company. Some jobs require going into stores that are downright hostile to your presence and will refuse to help you.

Cons

an honest example of your day, we will pay you for 15 minutes to run up to a Walmart. For that 15 minutes we will expect you to read instructions for any new changes, run in and check in with a manager, find our product, count our products exactly, go to the back room and find our products (which is by far the longest step), count our products in the back exactly, bring our products to the front of the store, take pictures and answer questions, remove all old products, stock by date, take pictures and answer questions. If this takes you 25-30 minutes, which is probably a more accurate accounting, we will still only pay you for 15. If you are lucky there may be another job that day, but if not you will be expected to waste your gas, drive to the Walmart that we demanded, and work that 15 minute job alone. In that case we will be demanding that you take an hour out of your day for $3.00.
