Pros

- International and domestic travels - Grow your personal network - The work team is young, dynamic and dedicated - Women supporting women

Cons

- The work provided by CUTRIC is a facade: the majority of the staff is junior straight out of university and has never worked in transit or related fields prior. Hence, there is little to no technical expertise in-house. Read recent reports if you want a proof. - Expect to work 60+ hours a week, and not get paid your extra hours - Lots of money is spent in public relations, lobbying, but at the time I was employed there was no employee benefits, no maternity/paternity leave, or insurance. -Lack of transparency: with members or clients, it was always about making up excuses when unable to deliver. -Expected to work really hard, and get your credits taken away - Though I am fully supportive of the "women support women" movement, I have heard several sexist comments that left our male colleagues feeling uncomfortable To sum up, your mental health will likely take a hit. There are just too many things to do, little to no technical guidance and little recognition.

Thank you for your comments. At CUTRIC we value each and every employee and work to ensure employees engage in lifelong learning opportunities as the industry evolves and changes. We also strive to provide staff with regular check-in, feedback and growth opportunities throughout the year and in different formats, as follows: 1. CUTRIC runs regular bi-annual and annual check-ins and performance evaluation sessions in which staff are able to provide feedback directly to management. 2. In normal/non-pandemic periods, CUTRIC runs regular bi-annual staff retreats in which staff have the opportunity to highlight concerns and new value propositions. 3. CUTRIC runs communications, management and leadership workshops with Reach Capabilities on a regular annual basis to ensure staff have access to training in how to communicate openly and transparently, how to negotiate difficult conversations and how to understand fellow staff members who may have different personality, cognitive or connative skills and traits. 4. CUTRIC runs annual Team-based and Staff-based SWOTs to assess internal and external strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats and it uses these SWOTS to form its business plan, team growth and human resources plan, and governance plans each year. 5. CUTRIC runs a manager's training program that helps managers identify different sources of leadership learning and training materials to help them grow in their own professional capabilities. CUTRIC will, from time to time, pay for staff to attend leadership training courses like the APTA Young Leaders Program and the WTS Leadership Training programs.

Pros

Working here offers a strong sense of purpose, especially if you are passionate about transit, sustainability and transportation innovation. The work can be meaningful and high impact, with opportunities to collaborate on projects involving industry, utilities, transit agencies, academia and government stakeholders. Team members are committed to the mission and there can be exposure to unique projects and learning opportunities that are difficult to find elsewhere.

Cons

As with many organizations operating in a fast-evolving and ambitious space, priorities can shift quickly. Employees who prefer highly predictable workflows may find this challenging.
