Pros

Junior level pay and severely "corporate" culture. I understand how people like it, but not for me overall. If you want to slack off you'll do nearly as well as the people who try.

Cons

Bonuses suck. Upper management sucks and the new office policy is NYC focused. Company has awful performance management practices and rewards favorites instead of performers. Projects are non-engaging and you're really just a meeting monkey. Better hope you don't come in and get stuck somewhere doing staff aug for 2 years.

Capco Response

We are disappointed to hear that you feel this way about working at Capco. As a large, global consulting organization, we have policies and processes in place which reflect our company size and to ensure fair and robust standards. That said, many colleagues choose to join us from larger firms as our company culture is less corporate with limited hierarchy and bureaucracy, enabling individuals to make a real impact and shape their own career path. Our return to office standards have been rolled out globally and adapted in line with the nuances of each region/office. We continue to offer a hybrid working model, however, we want to promote office-based working as we know that this strengthens collaboration and relationship building and supports learning. This is also in line with the approach our clients are taking, so it’s important we align. Our performance management process takes into account feedback from different stakeholders to ensure an equitable and balanced process. We regularly undertake a compensation benchmarking exercise to ensure that this is in line with the market so that we can attract and retain the best talent. We also have a wide portfolio of clients and projects across the financial services sector offering a variety of roles. We understand that sometimes individuals may get placed in a role which does not fully align with their career aspirations based on business and client demand. However, in these circumstances we will always try to enable the individual to move roles as soon as possible. If you would like additional support with your project assignments or performance management, please reach out to your Coach or HR Business Partner.

Pros

Varied client work — Different clients and project types, which keeps things interesting. Real project mobility — You can move between projects when you advocate for yourself (within reason). Approachable leadership — Senior leaders are open to conversations if you reach out. Good development resources — Plenty of training and growth opportunities if you take advantage of them. Strong teams — Colleagues are smart, capable, and great to work with. Entrepreneurial environment — New ideas are encouraged, and there’s room to take initiative.

Cons

Long hours vary by project — Like most any professional job, some engagements require extended hours for prolonged periods, but work–life balance really depends on the client and team. Additional internal responsibilities — Depending on level, there can be a significant amount of firm‑support work outside of client delivery. Domain alignment not guaranteed — You may not always be staffed on projects that match your domain expertise. Coaching alignment constraints — Coaching relationships are tied to domain, which limits flexibility in choosing formal mentors. Long engagements (sometimes) — Some projects run for long durations or through multiple extensions. It can provides stability but may reduce variety in client and project experience depending on what you’re looking for.
