Lack of career progression, compensation, leadership inadequacy, manager ineptitude - I don’t mean this review to be generically negative, but instead to give potential employment seekers fair warning about working here. Having been away from the company for some time and in new opportunities, my opinion of this company has become more concrete. This is your basic aspirational tech company that was acquired by some basic venture capital firm, and the problems are seemingly common for these failing post-startup endeavors, both as a company and at an individual contributor level. I think since I’ve left they’ve gone through even more mass layoffs, and the total lack of empathy that permeates throughout the VC-backed tech environment here is quite deplorable.
I could not recommend avoiding this company enough. You will not only become stagnant in your career, but possibly even be put back in your career. You will however learn skills about managing a portfolio with limited value to sell, constantly playing defence against competitors, as well as learning names quickly as a result of consistent leadership turnover.
Your experience may be different, but every department does seem to be plagued by the same issues of a company that won’t exist in 5 years. Best of luck to everyone who is still working there.
