Pros

The mission is great. Most of the staff are great to work with.

Cons

The CEO is greedy, fake, mean, and discriminatory. Tons of EEOC violations that get overlooked. If you're a woman, he's demeaning and yells at you over the phone and in front of everyone. If you're not heterosexual, he makes subtle comments. If you're not white, he makes comments about your race. If you're overweight, he talks about it to others and treats that person different than others. I stayed as long as I could and finally had enough. Several other people in corporate quit in the 2 weeks prior to me (they were also discriminated against). Turnover is astronomical. The CEO is mainly concerned about how many millions are in the bank rather than the mission of the company. Then he goes and applies for grants and government funding. That's just wrong! The company has the money and doesn't need funding. Do a Google search on Cenikor lawsuits. Heed the bad employee reviews wherever you see them. The good ones are from managers who were asked to write good reviews to help the rating.

Thank you for taking time to leave your review. At Cenikor, one of the core principles of our culture is positive, respectful communication by all team members, especially our leadership team, and including our CEO. This is actually measured by our “culture survey”, an anonymous 360 survey completed every 6 months for all our managers, directors and executives, including our CEO. The culture survey results for all the leadership team including the CEO are reviewed annually. If there were behaviors or communication not in alignment our values such as described, it most certainly would have been addressed. Our CEO is the driver of employee focused policies, such as a 10% 401k contribution, advance on wages to support emergency situations but most importantly he believes impacting the lives of our clients is our first mission, and impacting the lives of our employees is our next mission directly behind that of our clients. Additionally, in spite of recent challenges faced with COVID, Cenikor has continued to maintain all client services and had no layoffs of staff during this recent difficult period. This is a direct result of good stewardship of our funding sources as a non-profit organization. There are some unfunded capital projects for which we have submitted grants. This is not uncommon or unethical. In fact, Cenikor continues to have a 4-star rating with Charity Navigator year over year, certifying the integrity our financial management as a non-profit. If you have any additional input you would like to share, please feel free to contact us at HR@cenikor.org.

Pros

The people who work in the treatment world for a non-profit are usually there because they’re great human beings - you’ll find some of the best coworkers you’ve ever had here.

Cons

The workload is unmanageable. The pay is well below market value. The managers are so overworked that even the good ones snap at their team. Why are members of the accounting team nicer than the leaders in HR? It makes me sick to my stomach how the managers in HR treated those on the HR team; almost every Friday after their big weekly meeting, they would all be in tears because of how they were spoken to. Employee mediations are a joke. Most of the people who work here I think are desperate for a job and have criminal backgrounds which makes it hard for them to leave to find a new job even when they’re being mistreated. Cenikor counts on that fact and takes advantage of their compassion for the clients and their belief in the mission as well as their desperation to have a job. You’re not forced to pay someone fair market rates when they can’t get a job hardly anywhere else.
