Pros

At CSI you can connect with amazing human beings - mostly members.

Cons

CSI comes with a big caveat: this workplace is just as stressful as private sector work. It's disorganized and they use their good mission to justify long hours or below-average wages. You have to juggle among many tasks. There's not much room to grow in the organization. CSI is a broken culture. Employees at all levels, including the CEO, Tonya Surman, need to be aligned with the organization's values. They disseminate and promote beautiful values such as "people and planet first, but they don't honor their values when it comes to their own employees or volunteers.

Pros

*Colleagues who are smart and social-justice driven *Flexibility in work schedule *Wide variety of work *Some senior managers are excellent, but top-level management is terrible

Cons

Top-level management is abusive. Leadership has no management training/experience outside of current positions and this shows. No emphasis on professional development/career growth. Expect 60+ work weeks with no compensation. Project budgets are built assuming that all employees will put in hundreds of unbilled hours. State that they support people with lived experience, but show little to no compassion/support for self care/work-life balance.
