Pros

Decent pay and flexible location

Cons

My experience was unbelievably awful. I am writing this so if they try to do the same thing to anyone else at least that person will know they are not alone. The authoritarian management style and lack of transparency about working practices denied me both dignity and respect, it honestly pushed me to feel suicidal for the first time in my life. There was a total absence of direct feedback. Instead, you had to guess what was wanted via inferences from supervisors, or even other members of the team, so you felt you were being talked about but never to. I ended up feeling so incredibly anxious that I could barely make a decision.

Pros

Mission-driven, passionate staff, great office location.

Cons

As with any nonprofit, always more work than staff to do it.

Pros

Some really nice and cool young people work here.

Cons

Hierarchical management system with no opportunities for advancement. The CEO has been accused of fraud at a previous job and somehow managed to become CEO of this organization with no connection to the addiction issue. There seems to be a Catholic connection with him and some board members. It's very strange. I feel guilty about asking anyone to donate to the organization previously. They are so removed from real people who are struggling and have no idea how to impact those people. Their senior management consists mainly of lawyers in a time when we're trying to un-do the criminal aspect of drug use and promote a public health approach. Doesn't make a lot of sense.
