Pros
The company evolves and adapts well to changing markets. Looks ahead to where the work will be. Gives employees the physical tools and technology needed to succeed. Safety and health are important - daily group stretching, reimbursement for gym membership and weight loss programs, no tobacco products allowed on company grounds or on project sites. Lots of good, honest, caring people at this company. It's employee owned, so there's good opportunity for profit sharing.
Cons
Pay doesn't seem commensurate with education/experience. It's almost impossible to get a raise. As with many construction companies, there's too much "crony-ism" which allows incompetent people to do well while the work horses are overlooked. Lots of favoritism - low paid workers getting special trips and bennies because of who they know. It's difficult to advance above middle management - even though it's an employee-owned company, the top brass are almost all descendants of the original 4 brothers who owned the company, even tho several of those folks aren't very competent. The company is still too rooted in old ways - the headquarters is in the middle of nowhere, 2 hours from the nearest airport.
