Pros
Accsptable as a stop gap job if you don't mind working with the usually irritated public . Probably going to be one pretty near where you live so you won't have to travel far. Uniform is provided so you can look groovy at work with ya pals and not ruin your own clothes Very easy basic work doesn't require much brain energy if you are lucky enough to avoid being stuck on tills your whole shift.
Cons
don't respect the hours you are available to work and try to add you to rota on days you can't do. management don't care about staff safety at all, we had no functional security alarm on the tills for months despite being in a very busy central city location. Staff are left to be verbally abused and threatend etc by members of the public with no support or back up. Poor working conditions staff area and store back area we're always pretty grim really really poor staff training: you just click through a lot of screens on the computer and the supervisor is popping in to encourage you to click faster so you can come back and get stuck on tills some more ..so most of the colleagues you work with including yourself won't really know what their suposed to be doing . If you get a 'nice' supervisor everyone who smokes just dissapears for the whole day while you get stuck on tills again and no one ever comes to save you from the mental torture. The customers are really rude about everything because they are annoyed at coop for changing the prices everyday
