Pros

The mission is phenomenal. They are doing their part in educating underrepresented youth who have little to no access to these types of resources.

Cons

Stay away. Run for the hill...Do not pass go. This is not a place that you want to stay for more than 3 months. The environment is always so thick and tense. Everyone here is socially awkward as all hell. The CEO has anger issues. A very bad temper. He'll snap, then act as if nothing happened. His energy causes the entire team dynamic to be weird. Unhealthy environment.

Pros

As most reviews have mentioned, the workshops are the highlight of working here. Watching students with no prior programming background write their first line of code is extremely rewarding not just for students but staff as well. Having students genuinely see computer programming as a viable path is very rewarding. CodeNow is not your typical non-profit and thats a good thing. At CodeNow employees get the opportunity to see how the company functions. Employees are not pigeoned to just their main responsibilities and are encouraged to explore what their colleagues are working on and assist where they can. Not many companies can attest to that. Employees get to truly see how interconnected they all are. Management is open to ideas and frequently encourages feedback from employees. This feedback mechanism creates a very welcoming environment as employees are free to discus concerns with management without fear.

Cons

Working here can be psychologically taxing at times. Given the small number of people on the team and the amount of work that needs to be done, it is a constant struggle for balance. Management does its best to alleviate stress for employees but there is still alot of work
