Pros
For the team I'm on, there's a lot of autonomy which is great. I like what we're trying to accomplish as well and a huge opportunity is in front of us. There are some great people here at all level's of experience on all of the teams and I do believe Leadership as a whole means well and they're good at what they do specifically (but very weak in other areas.) There can be a lot of extra work involved but it's a start-up and that's to be expected.
Cons
While Leadership is good at what they do, there's major disconnect with their teams and they're going to have a real problem in the new year if things don't change which is basically taking advantage of us and then seeming confused why people aren't happy and/or leaving (there have been several big losses in the past 4-5 months already.) Everyone is underpaid or average at best. Even worse, raises are not good because you were probably started very low to begin with and really only happen if they're scared to lose you if you've been approached by another company (bonuses do not exist period as of now.) Stock has been offered in the past (I don't know if it is now,) but everyone knows its worth nothing for 4 years minimum. Promotions do not happen at all. Out of all the teams in the company, I saw Data Science did a great job with growth with multiple people being promoted but they just lost their leader so not sure how that'll go moving forward. Getting away from that team, only a couple of people out of a company of 50+ have been promoted and many are not happy with one of them because they're not good at what they do and worse they cause problems both ability and culture wise . For most of the technical positions, they're really pushing to get back to being onsite 2 days/week for pointless reasons and that's going to backfire as the location is not great for many now (or as is glaringly apparent with the market, simply don't want to or don't have to with other companies being readily available,) or trying to get more people hired as we grow. Actually being in the office, many have not seen the benefit either. Benefits are set for 2023 and for everyone with families or will be growing a family are not happy.
